Question & Answer About Yesterday’s Affiliate Quick Start Video
By Franck | November 23, 2009
Yesterday I received a question from one of my subscribers about the affiliate marketing “Quick Start” video you watched yesterday when you joined my newsletter.
I think everyone will benefit from the answer, and that’s why I added it to the blog. Many of you are brand new to affiliate marketing and I know that you have a lot of unanswered questions.
Just ask! If you have any question, just ask in the comment section below this post.
Can I Copy Other People’s Content And Add It On My Site?
So he asked me why I copied the content on the merchant’s site in the Quick Start affiliate video and was wondering if I was doing something illegal.

My reply: Hi, You do not have to worry about copyright law when you use your own content. Those who have to worry about copyright laws are people who copy other site’s content (this is called plagiarism). You should never do that. If it is your own content you won’t have any problem because you own the copyrights.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Then, he wanted more clarifications… In fact I didn’t really understand the question at first. I got it the second time though:
Hi,
I see what you mean now. In fact, the content I copied and pasted on the blog was content that the owner created for us (affiliate) so that we can copy it.
In other words… the beta fish’s website owner prepared some content for us because we became a member of his sales team (an affiliate).
You can’t have any troubles doing this because the content is for you.
If it still doesn’t make sense, send me an email and I will write a full article about this tomorrow.
I hope this makes sense.
What I was talking about in my previous email is other people’s content is about copying someone else’s content. This is illegal.
Let me know if you “get it” now.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have more questions.
To your success,
Franck
The second time, everything was clear for him.
Remember:
1. Never copy someone else’s content. Never copy an article on someone’s website without his permission.
2. However, you can copy the content that the merchant gives you to promote his own product (like I do the video). It is a good thing to rewrite this content in your own words because you will get more visitors from the search engines this way. Why? Because Google and other search engines love unique content.
I just wanted to tell you more and why Google love unique content…
Let’s do a crash course about search engines.
Google is here to make money. That’s it. Yahoo, Msn and Aol are also here to make money. You are here because you want to make money too. Still with me? In fact, we all want to make money to have more time doing what we love.
Google needs original and unique content because if users (YOU, ME and millions of other people online) like what they see when they perform a search on Google, they will continue to search for information on Google.
In other words… If YOU search for something on Google, and when you click on the listing, you find irrelevant information. What you will do? You will head over Yahoo or MSN to find better information. Google DO NOT want you to go to Yahoo and MSN!
Why?
Because if you go to Yahoo and MSN, you will click on their sponsored ads, and they will make more money.
Do you see how it works?
Look at the picture below:
Whenever you make a search, you have the sponsored ads on the right on the screen. When you click on one of these ads, Google makes money.
What this have to do with you?
Simple. If you provide great content to your user, Google will give your site a higher position on the pages of results and eventually rank your site on the first page because they know that visitors are happy with what they see when they land to your site.
I did my best to explain this, and if you have any question about this article or about yesterday’s video, please leave your comment below, ok?
