There is so many web hosting companies on the web, that it is really difficult to chose the right one..

Newbies and new comers to the web can’t make the difference, and the future of their business, the sales and traffic you need… depend on your web hosting.

What will you do if your website is not available several minutes or several hours a day? This is the inconvenient with those cheap web hosting.

They are cheap OK, but do you want to run an Internet Business, or..

There is a lot of features that you need with a web hosting, and with the cheaper web hosting package, most of the time you will not find those essential tools.

You must know that your web host will charge you a monthly fee that ranges from $10 or $20, up to $50 per month.

Plan to pay between $100 and $300 for a serious web hosting.

Next, we will see what to do if you don’t want to make business on the Internet.

Is a cheap web hosting right for you?

Cheap web hosting service

We stopped with the Bravenet ads, and I decide to search for a reliable web hosting, because I read that cheap and free web hosting was definitively not a solution for your Internet business.

I was surfing at the research of my super reliable web hosting… But I didn’t even know what is the meaning of bandwith although I was seing this word everywhere.

I started to send email to the different web hosting companies. I remember that I found Homestead, and vodahost (or Blue Voda). I emailed them, and asked some questions.

They did answer fast, but I felt that it wasn’t for me. Simple intuition, that I like to follow. I felt that those service were more for everybody. I didn’t want an everybody web hosting, but a good one, with good support.

When I think about it now, support is the number one thing I will be recommending  for a newbie. When you don’t know what is the meaning of DNS, FTP… Believe me, You absolutely need a strong and excellent support almost 24/7.

More on my web hosting adventure soon.

Free web hosting service

Filed under: Web Hosting @ 1:33 pm

When I started online, in late December 2005, I used a free web hosting. It was Tripod free web hosting service . I bought a website that I received by email.

I edited the templates and the text, and after that, I didn’t know what to do! I was lost.. I contacted the template seller, and he uploaded for me at no cost.

I wasn’t satisfied, because I thought that if I can’t upload my website alone, I didn’t have any control on my Internet presence.

I started to advertise my site, and I wasn’t satisfied with the tripod banner as a header for my website…

Then I discovered Bravenet web hosting , and I found that great, but same thing.. I am giving them free traffic and advertizing…

I decided to search for a paid web hosting, because I knew that I was going to take my Internet business very seriously..

Web Hosting: Upload your site to your server 2

Filed under: Web Hosting @ 12:43 pm

We saw 2 methods to upload your site to the weberver:

Via the cPanel: You will need to click on Public html, (or www) . then you will be in the main directory.

While uploading files (webpages and images) to youe web hosting via your cpanel, you will upload the file from your hard drive. I said that it is easy, because you just click on upload, and if you need more files, upload again.

The problem is that with large files, it takes time. When you upload a PDF for instance.

The best method I know to upload your site to your webserver is FTP client. To do that, I use Filezilla. It’s really simple, and ULTRA RAPID.

From your FTP client, you will connect directly to your webserver, just by puting these information (only the first time):

  1. Address
  2. User
  3. Password

The FTP will also ask you the port, but in Filezilla, it is set by default. the common port to upload files to your web hosting is: 21

You may ask from where do you get those informations? Don’t worry, when you register with your webhosting provider, he will send you a welcome email with all these data.

Until then.

Web Hosting: Upload your site to your server

Filed under: Web Hosting @ 11:59 am

How can you upload your site to your webserver? Every good web hosting service will have a control panel.
I know only 2 ways until now to upload your site to your webhosting:

  1. FTP
  2. Via your Cpanel

There is a lot of paid and free FTP software. You will use a free one, like most people do including me.

Here is a little story.. After 8 months on the Internet, 5 websites and more than 6 blogs to update regularly, I didn’t even know how an FTP work..

I was just connecting to my web hosting service, and uploading my webpages and images via my cPanel, because I thought that FTP was difficult!

Uploading your files via your cPanel is easy, but believe me, it is faster to do it with an FTP Client!

In the next post, I will let you know what do you need to upload via FTP.

As usual, feel free to comment on my web hosting blog.

Now, you need your site to be available to the word. Your web hosting service will make this possible.

Let me explain: When surfers will tape in the address bar of their browser, they will be able to see your site (webpage(s) and images) from anywhere.

After designing your superb website with Dreamweaver, Xsite pro or your simple HTML editor, Your web hosting provider will enable you to share your site on the World Wild Web.

All the websites on the Internet are hosted on computers (they are called web servers). Your site will be hosted on the web host.

You will just need to upload your site to your webserver, and voila, your site is available everywhere.

Next, we will see: How do you upload your website.

Stay tuned…

Your Web hosting is your best friend online..
